Since the fall of man[Adam] in the garden of Eden through deception by the devil, he has not relented in the business of deceiving people. He has succeeded in deceiving people through various means. Galatians 6:7 says” Don’t be deceived; God is not mocked; Whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap.” God is warning us not to be deceived by the devil, our position, connections, wealth achievement etc.

So many things can deceived us if we are not careful, and grounded by the word of God. Some persons have been deceived by their education, fame, pastor, background jobs etc. Are you carried away by your riches, achievement and position ? Man has become the architect of his downfall because of self deception and deceit.

Consequences of self deception, and deceit.

King Nebuchadnezzar was deceived by his fame, glory, achievement and power. In Daniel 5:30–31, the word of God says” The king spoke, and said, is not this Babylon that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty? While the word was in the king’s mouth, their fell a voice from heaven saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.” He was driven to the bush to eat grass like animal as a result of self deceit. When he realized God as the one behind his success; his kingdom was restored back to him.

The Philistine in 1 Samuel 17:43–44 mocked the armies of Israel because he was deceived by his own strength, power, and might. David summoned courage and fought with him because he recognized God as the brain behind his previous victory.

How to overcome, and conquer self deceit and deception.

One of the ways of conquering self deceit, and deception is by recognizing God as the brain behind all your achievement, success, position etc. Don’t be carried away by your position, or wealth.

Humility. God resist the proud, and gives grace to the humble[James 4:6] God dislike a proud, and haughty heart. It repels him. A humble heart will not be easily deceived by his accomplishment, position, or possession. Don’t be deceived; God is not mocked. Our lifestyle, and way of life is like a seed that is planted. It must surely bear fruit.

Beloved, we should always strive, and endeavor to sow good seed in our families, homes, place of work, business, community etc in other to reap good fruit. Always remember that God can’t be mocked. Whatsoever one sows on planet earth, he will definitely reap whether good or evil
